Hello, my name is Katie, being a twenty-something struggling to find my place in the world I started experimenting and really testing my own boundaries and seeing where my passions would lead me. I attempted photography, sewing and finally baking which led me to decorating. 

In November of 2009 I started blogging, started many pages, changed names and started a new page; What Katie Bakes was finally created, this time I did not care if a single person read my posts. I was doing it for me, to explore a creative side which I never knew existed. Today some people do follow my posts, and read my baking adventures and I am so lucky and fortunate. I have received so many wonderful compliments from family, friends and strangers. I never thought that something could be created from my own hands. After being encouraged by my friends and family to sell my creations, What Katie Bakes was officially born and launched beyond the blogosphere. 

I don't know where life may lead me next, but regardless of what adventures lie ahead, I hope that I do not change. I hope that I never forget to laugh at my mistakes. I hope I take the time to smell the roses. I hope I never forget how to enjoy a latte in the lane-ways of Melbourne. At the end of the day I want to be able to give myself at pat on the back and smile, and bring joy into other peoples lives, by sharing cake with them.

All in all I welcome you, as you can see my blog and services are a work in progress. Yes as I have been told the cake decorating world is huge, a discouraged by many, but I do this for me, for the love of baking and putting smiles onto the faces of kids, brides, mothers and fathers. So welcome to my imperfect journey through my kitchen, where it all started with a pistachio kitchen aid mixer.
